DANIEL NEARING has worked as Producer, Director and Writer for numerous documentaries broadcast on The Discovery Channel, Bravo, the CBC, and The Sports Network. In addition to serving as Director for Chicago Heights, he is presently coordinating an MFA program in independent filmmaking at Governors State University, in the South Chicago area. Nearing is an avid hockey fan, loves to travel and, with the assistance of the Toronto and Ontario Arts Councils, continues to plug away at Hogtown, an historical novel that he started a long, long time ago.
SANGHOON LEE, a Korean national, moved to the USA in 1999 to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where he pursued his MFA in Filmmaking. He has been working as a director, producer and cinematographer in the independent film community in the US since 2003. As a producer he has completed a feature documentary, Edit (2003), and two dramatic features -- Second Moon (2007) and Chicago Heights (2009). Cinematography is another of his passions. He has shot numerous short films, commercials and music videos. He recently debuted as a feature DP for Chicago Heights. His films have shown at numerous film festivals including the Pusan International Film Festival, Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival, Leipzig Film Festival, the Denver International Film Festival, the Seoul Independent Film Festival, and the Seoul Experimental Film Festlval. Sanghoon’s influences are Wim Wenders, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Leos Carax and Hal Hartley. He’s also a long distance runner, and recently completed his third marathon.
SETH McCLELLAN co-produced Chicago Heights and handled casting and unit production management. McClellan’s feature documentary about Dr. Martin Luther King and the Chicago Freedom Movement premiered in 2009 on PBS in Chicago and played at 14 film festivals across the US and Canada. King in Chicago also screened at universities, including the American University in D.C., Howard University School of Law, and Northwestern University. He's created other narrative and documentary projects and runs his own mini-production company that provides a variety of services, Thorn Creek Productions, Inc. As an actor, he has appeared in many commercials and independent films. He received an MFA in Independent Film and Digital Imaging from Governors State University and currently teaches at Triton College.
